Where is MOZAMBIQUE located on the map?

Mozambique, in long form the Republic of Mozambique, is a state located on the east coast of the African continent. It is surrounded by South Africa, Eswatini, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania. It is a former Portuguese colony, the first Lusophone country in Africa, in front of Angola, by its population and the second by its surface. The country is a member of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) and the Commonwealth.

Mozambique is a southern African country bordering the Indian Ocean, with a total area of 799,380 km2 (of which 786,380 km2 are terrestrial and 13,000 km2 are lakes and rivers). It is subject to a tropical climate.

Where is Mozambique located in Africa? Mozambique is bordered by Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Swaziland. It has a coastline of more than 2,000 km on the Indian Ocean. The country is an immense coastline of southern Africa.

The climate varies from tropical to subtropical.

The country is “divided” into two distinct parts:

  • The North is undeveloped, so little visited. It is therefore very wild and will delight adventurers.
  • The South producing most of the wealth is very developed. Maputo, the capital is modern and teeming with diverse and varied activities.

Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world. Half of its population lives below the poverty line.

In 2012, the United Nations Development Program ranked Mozambique as the third least developed country in the world in its annual report, giving it a human development index of only 0.327.

The economy is essentially based on agriculture. About one in five assets work in the primary sector. From the 1970s to the 1990s, agriculture was entirely collectivized. Since the 2000s, she juxtaposes small family farms and large farms belonging to large companies. Farmers can not meet food needs but the country exports cotton, sugar, copra, high cashew production and high shrimp production. The country is one of the top eight cotton producers in East, South and North Africa in the mid-2010s.
