Where is ITALY located on the map?
Italy is a country in South West Europe, a founding member of the European Union. Its capital is Rome, which is also the largest city in Italy, but the largest urban area is Milan. Italy is located in the south of Europe and is surrounded by France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. To the north, there is the Alps. Italy has great access to the Mediterranean Sea: the Thyrenian Sea to the west, the Ionian Sea to the south and the Adriatic Sea to the east.
Italy is a country with an elongated shape that looks like a boot and has two large islands: Sicily and Sardinia. Beside its big islands, there are many small islands. It is a mountainous country, which includes only one large plain, that of the Po, to the north. The climate is mountainous and continental in the north, but Mediterranean in the “boot”.
Italy is part of the euro zone, that is to say that its currency is the euro.
